Refunds
Secure, accurate, and controlled refunds.
Security Explained
Refund security controls are designed to ensure that credits issued to previously processed credit and debit cards are valid, accurate, and properly authorized. The system verifies the original transaction and confirms that the refund is directed to the same payment method. Refunds are generally limited to cards previously processed through Elavon, although this restriction may be overridden when a legitimate business need exists. These safeguards help prevent duplicate, excessive, or unauthorized refunds. Together, these controls protect the merchant, the cardholder, and the integrity of the payment process.
Limits Explained
Refund amount controls ensure that credits do not exceed the value of the original transaction. A transaction may be refunded either partially or in full, depending on the circumstances. For example, a $500 transaction may receive a partial refund of $300 or a full refund of $500; however, any refund exceeding the original $500 transaction amount will be declined.
Access Explained
Refund functionality is restricted to users who have been granted the appropriate authority. Access can be assigned to specific users or designated user roles based on the organization’s operational requirements and internal approval structure. This role-based approach ensures that only authorized personnel can initiate and process refunds.
