Integration Options

The Elavon Payment Gateway (EPG) offers flexible integration options designed to support a wide range of business and technology requirements. Organizations can integrate directly through robust APIs for maximum control over the payment experience, utilize secure Hosted Payment Pages to simplify development and reduce the handling of sensitive payment data, or implement embedded and pre-built payment components for a more streamlined integration. Whether your business requires a fully customized payment workflow or a turnkey hosted solution, Elavon Payment Gateway provides the flexibility to deliver secure, scalable payment experiences across websites, applications, and other digital payment channels.

Create Account

Once you create an Elavon developer account, you'll get project credentials to access the sandbox environment. The sandbox allows you to simulate transactions and explore all of Elavon’s features without processing real money. To start accepting live payments, you’ll need to contact us to get your account certified with Elavon and ready for production. When you create a project for the Elavon Payment Gateway, you will receive an email titled "Welcome to Elavon" inviting you to create an account on the Elavon Payment Gateway merchant portal. The merchant portal is a web-based dashboard designed for clients to monitor transactions. It is the command center for financial and operational control, combining transaction visibility, account management, and integration tools in one secure, user-friendly platform.

API Requests

The process begins by authenticating each API request with your Merchant Alias and Secret Key. Next, you create a shopper by sending a request to the shopper endpoint using your preferred API tool. You can then log in to the EPG Merchant Portal to view and manage the shopper’s information, payment methods, subscriptions, and transaction history. Finally, choose between a hosted payment solution for a simpler setup or a direct API integration for greater customization and control.

Direct Integration

Using a direct API integration into the Elavon Payment Gateway gives businesses complete control over the payment experience, enabling payment functionality to be seamlessly integrated into existing applications, websites, and platforms. A direct API integration allows your application to securely collect payment details and communicate directly with Elavon’s APIs to process authorizations, settlements, refunds, and other payment transactions. This integration is ideal for organizations that require greater control over the checkout experience, payment workflows, and user interface. It provides maximum flexibility to create a customized payment experience tailored to your business and customers.

Hosted Payments

Elavon Payment Gateway offers hosted integration methods, including redirect checkout, lightbox modals, payment links, and hosted payment fields. Because payments are processed on Elavon’s secure servers, you don’t have to handle sensitive card data directly, which can help reduce your PCI compliance scope. A hosted payment page is ideal for businesses that want a checkout form capable of gathering customer information without the need for a lengthy integration process. You can customize the shopper experience using hosted pages in redirect or lightbox mode, payment links, or hosted fields.

Additional Features

Additional features include Account Funding Transactions (AFTs), which support transferring funds from payment cards to digital wallets, investment platforms, prepaid accounts, and other financial services. EPG Fraud Prevention helps identify suspicious activity, authenticate customers, reduce chargeback risk, and secure payment processing. North American merchants with surcharge support enabled can add surcharges to eligible transactions and issue full or partial refunds that include the surcharge.
